TARABUCO PISILI

The Yampara Indigenous Textile Art Center is located in the Pisili Indigenous community of the Yampara Nation, which is of Quechua origin. This community is situated in the municipality of Tarabuco in the Department of Chuquisaca, Bolivia. The project is initiated by the indigenous families of the community. Visitors can experience and learn about the process of making textile art, which is manually woven by indigenous women. The textile making process includes sheep shearing, shearing, spinning, balling, twisting, warping, designing using iconographic patterns, natural plant treatment, as well as the weaving of the fabric using two techniques: llanu fabric (plain) and pallay fabric (collected). Moreover, the center offers diverse tourism services.
